A key thing missing from today's web is a sense of *reputation*. Websites run by centuries old establishments of fine journalism can look exactly the same as blog spam or straight up fake news websites run by some random internet weirdo. If it's any consolation, it was top billing on cnn.com yesterday, which is where I first saw it. Entire top left of the screen was the woman's face and a huge headline. Now it's buried in a couple lines below the (digital) fold. Source: 6 months ago

I don't know what EasyList or uBlock are (i.e., I don't use those), but I got blocked by cnn.com as well. Firefox on Mac. Turns out it was the "I don't care about cookies" extension (automatically accept consent requests). Once I disabled that for cnn, it worked again. Source: 6 months ago
