Looks like you want something that integrates well with your workflow. The closest to your description seems to be Manuskript although I haven't used it. But your requirement of "keeping notes and frameworks and linking back and forth" should be possible by stitching together existing Linux tools using a syntax like markdown or asciidoc so that you can use any text editor to write your story and use external tools... How would you compare it to Dialogue Designer by radmatt if you've seen it? I haven't used it yet, but if I had a choice (ie, I don't need the extra bits in DD,) I'd probably prefer the simplicity of yours. :D. Source: over 2 years ago
Does anyone have experience with this dialogue system integrating into gamemaker studio 2? It seems like it would be pretty straightforward to write a system that decodes the JSON and ties it to characters, but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel if it had already been done.
