  • QB desktop kicking us out
This question comes up often. I'm a fan of manager.io (it's not as good as QBD, but for many folks it's good enough). Another option sometimes mentioned is GnuCash, which I haven't tried. Source: 6 months ago
  • Make Your Voice Heard
I get your sentiment, but Intuit doesn't care about the protest emails they receive. You don't think they didn't know there would be some response? It would be interesting to have been a fly on the wall with their conversations on this. The answer is to find an accounting program that works for you. It really is voting with your dollars. There have been many suggestions I have read. There is manager.io, wave,... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Accounting Software Recommendations?
Another route would be to try a local install of http://manager.io, but that's a bit more web based and he might find it off-putting. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Quickbooks Desktop price more than doubled for 2023?
I've been shadow-bookkeeping using manager.io for 5 months now. Manager.io isn't quite as mature as QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 but for routine micro-business bookkeeping it's just as good as QB. Everyone has different needs so manager.io may or may not work for you. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Opinions on excel book keeping
There are many, many things that Excel can do. Proper bookkeeping is not one of them. Do not do this. Normally I would recommend QuickBooks, but they're being mega-douches with their price increases this year. But literally any bookkeeping software would be better than Excel. Manager (https://manager.io) is a new desktop option I've learned about recently. It's free for basic stuff, give it a whirl. Or try... Source: over 1 year ago

  • Airplane acquired by Airtable and is shutting down
Founder of Appsmith (https://appsmith.com) here. This is very unfortunate news. I have a lot of respect for the founders & the product. In fact I even used Airplane for a few side projects in the past. It's sad to see the product die. IMO, most folks alluding to them running out money is incorrect. I think they simply ran out of energy or the will to go on. This is very common among early stage companies. But, as... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Web no-code/low-code tool recommendation? Backend+frontend+analytics and simple to learn
As well as Appsmith & Retool. They all have generous free tiers, in my opinion. Each can be self-hosted too. Source: over 1 year ago
  • No code platform that can be self-hosted on AWS
Hello, you can check out Appsmith. It's an open-source platform with all the features you mentioned and it's great for building business apps! Source: over 1 year ago
  • Affordable low code platform for internal tools?
Appsmith is self hosted right now. It’s as customizable as Retool, easy as Internal, and less glitchy than Budibase. Tooljet also offers a self hosted version, but Appsmiths dev team updates improvements so much faster. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • February Round-up: New Helm Charts, Product Updates, and Collabs
If you’ve followed Appsmith for a while, you know that we can do a lot in 30 days! In the second month of 2022, we cleared a few bugs and created an all-new event called How Do I Do X, where many frequently asked questions live. Source: over 2 years ago
