I've been using https://mailinabox.email on a small VPS where I host a few other websites and projects. I'd recommend it for the management aspect: It has backup scripts and a UI for let's encrypt and dns entries. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
I don't see why we are a long way away. At the sandstorm end, we need to get to the point, where all updates (of both sandstorm and the apps) on the user machine are automatic. If you have a better solution, for example a good provider who offer agency packages which allows many domains and there is no catch, for example very small disk space, then hit me right away. Haraka (https://haraka.github.io/) is a plugin-based mailserver written in JavaScript. I've messed with postfix before but found Haraka easier because instead of arcane configuration files I can just read, copy, and tweak a plugin to suit my needs. Policies for receiving, storing, forwarding, and ignoring mail can be arbitrarily complex. Source: over 2 years ago
Exoprise leverages a node-based SMTP application, haraka, to process its messages as a well as series of custom plugins. You can read more about haraka here. Since its node-based its event driven, incredibly fast, and highly scable. Our auto-responders process 100’s of thousands of inbound and outbound messages each day, typically in < 10 milliseconds per each message. Source: over 2 years ago
