  • Librum: Open-Source e-book platform
I've been rather happy with Librera, although when reading foreign languages, I prefer KOReader for its locally installed dictionary lookups (you have to add them). Note that these are both reader software, first, and not advanced library management packages (as far as I know). The last I checked, Librera also had two versions on the Play store, with the paid pro (or whatever) version sending a few dollars towards... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Accessibility barriers with Kindle leave me wanting DRM-free books to read. Can anyone recommend authors who have their work available through something that isn't Kindle? I'm more than willing to pay for books.

Another option is to download an app onto your iPhone that allows for file transfers using iTunes, like Documents by Readdle. Then you can use the instructions from Apple about File Sharing, but you will see Documents in the list instead of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote like in their screenshots. Source: over 1 year ago

  • My Experience as a Lifetime Android User Switching to iPhone: Two Weeks In
Android file managers are basically very similar to how they work on Windows and Linux, the way you expect. But, Apple/iOS does have file management. There's an app called Files and it's... mediocre. If you want file management AND you want cloud files (your next point), you absolutely want the app Documents by Readdle. It's a [local] file manager. It's a cloud manager. It's a document reader (PDF/ePub/etc), and... Source: about 2 years ago
