    Are you running on Mac or windows? If you’re using Mac I would recommend using Valet and then updating the php version according to the documentation at https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/valet. If you’re using windows I think you can just update is via shell commands but I’m not quite sure, haven’t used windows in years :p. Maybe this stack overflow article can help you...
