I had a problem with a half-removed anti-virus install and old 'protected' files I could not delete from the Mac's Bin. App Cleaner was the only application I could find (8th I tried) which properly removed the remnants of the AV application and allowed my Mac to boot without the long freezes which I suffered while booting. The protected files in the Bin it could not handle, but their support team offered a remote session to see what could be done. They connected and worked some magical commands via the terminal app and the files were deleted without issue. So all of my problems were solved. This was all done whilst I was still using the trial version of the application. So to conclude - a superb application, fantastic service which went way and beyond any expectations. They've gained a lifetime user. I wish more developers were this awesome.
This app deletes all leftovers of any apps. Simple and easy to use.
It helped me clean up about 20GB in a few minutes.
Nektony App Cleaner & Uninstaller might be a bit more popular than Kaleidoscope. We know about 20 links to it since March 2021 and only 20 links to Kaleidoscope. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
> Did you ever get a chance to use their product? I wasn't a professional designer so never had a need for layervault, but it had quite a bit of polish for its time. Another app in the space has been https://kaleidoscope.app/ (Mac only) which is still around but doesn't market specifically to just images, I think the parent company has changed hands (was owned by Black Pixel, then Letter Opener GmbH, now owned by... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago

MacOS is of course a Unix so it has support for CLI automation as well, and it's pretty common for macOS-exclusive applications to implement it where appropriate (e.g., https://kaleidoscope.app). It also has several other forms of automation: 1. AppleScript, which often makes it faster to implement powerful scripts than a CLI because AppleScript has objects (e.g., you can iterate through the tasks in OmniFocus for... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Kaleidoscope. The best comparison app out there. I used it in particular because at work we have a very different workflow which makes it hard to use other tools for comparison. I think it’s gotten pretty pricey though, so if I could avoid said workflow I’d probably use something else. Source: 12 months ago
Https://kaleidoscope.app/ can probably get you a good looking diff but never tried for your usecase. I have been using it for 10 years now. Source: 12 months ago
Try using a tool such as this to remove all the leftovers from the app and give the installation another crack. Source: 11 months ago
Thank you!! I was really hoping to avoid the hard way since I’m not techy and actually ended up using a free trial of the Nektony App Cleaner & Uninstaller (added link for others with this issue). Source: about 1 year ago
I suggest using an alternative complete app uninstall over the MacPaw monstrosity, which is notoriously harmful to system file integrity. I use Nektony App Cleaner & Uninstaller, which serves the sole purpose of complete uninstalls, unlike CleanMyMacX. Most importantly, highlight all files related to an app and then leave the removal action up to the user manually so that you can see exactly what will be removed,... Source: about 1 year ago
Nektony App Cleaner & Uninstaller is showing login items and leftover files, but I’m not sure the latter is very reliable. It often lists files from apps that are still installed too, so handle with care. Source: over 1 year ago
I use CMMX for the various tools it has and since it's included in Setapp, but for removing apps and cleaning up leftovers I tend to prefer https://nektony.com/mac-app-cleaner - they're another Mac app company based in Ukraine. Source: almost 2 years ago
