Iterate Reviews

  1. Quick way to Gather User Information

I love working with Iterate because it eliminates the need for bulky 50 question user surveys, live in person focus groups (was lovely during covid when this couldn't happen at all), and sifting through Google Analytics data for 'trends' to answer questions.

We use Iterate because we're constantly testing new features on our site, landing pages with media spend, and messaging tactics. Iterate provides a single script to drop into your source code and then you can create custom branded surveys that keep the user on your site. We've been able to increase conversion rates, launch new products/services and get event/registration hesitation feedback in days/weeks instead of trying to decipher was directional data tells us.

    🏁 Competitors: Survey Monkey, Qualtrics
👍 Pros:    Easy to track data|Guest satisfaction survey|User friendly interface|Embeddable feedback widget
👎 Cons:    Can't use survey buttons to create second step on website

  • Harnessing Screams with Tidal Looper
Since then, I've been working more and more with TidalCycles. TidalCycles is an open-source live coding framework for creating patterns written in Haskell. TidalCycles uses SuperCollider on the backend, another language I've been using for live coding. Recently, I started using Tidal Looper for live vocal processing. This blog post will walk you through what you need to get started with vocal looping with Tidal... - Source: dev.to / 9 days ago

Csound is... "interesting". If you want to play with something more modern, have a look at https://supercollider.github.io/ instead. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • MuseScore 4.1 is now available
For the intrepid, especially those annoyed with the purported input-sluggishness of musescore et al, an interesting text-based alternative is LilyPond https://lilypond.org/ My dad wrote an opera using LilyPond in vim, though I believe these days he's actually doing more with supercollider, which skips sheetmusic and goes right to sounds: https://supercollider.github.io/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Why'd you choose programming?
Weirdly enough,I got into programming through music. I got into making experimental electronic music and ended up learning SuperCollider. Figured I’d have to get a real job at some point and I liked learning Supercollider enough that I figured I should try to go back to school and learn some more useful programming languages. • 13 Years of History Teaching - Now Thrown Into CS.
So you’re wondering what would making music with code look like? The tools I’m familiar with are TidalCycles, Sonic Pi, and SuperCollider. I’m having a hard time describing what it’s like to make music with tools like these so here’s a video of a performance. One person is live coding the music and the other is live coding the visuals. I think it’s super cool how the music is improvised and built over time by... Source: about 1 year ago
