  • Tips for a newcomer
Lineage OS isn't officially supported on the FP4, but there are other OSs that are. One is iodéOS (based on Lineage). I have been running it on my FP4 and have no complaints apart from not being able to use the wide-angle camera. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Someone is making loads of money by plagiarizing LineageOS. Very uncool.
Yah, there are other competitors out there like Atsanik, e/foundation, Iode, Liberate your tech, and Mamushi that I found. Atsanik, Liberate and Mamushi offer either CalyxOS or GrapheneOS and Iode and e/foundation offer a modded version of Lineage. Source: almost 3 years ago

Those prices are quite high considering there are already cheaper options available with e/foundation, and iode with their proprietary privacy OS's and atsanik.com with CalyxOS and GrapheneOS. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA)
Android on the desktop works very well on Wayland with Waydroid and it even supports Google Play store. https://waydro.id/ Great running apps not available on Linux with a touchscreen PC. It only seems to run Android apps compiled for x86, but it is very fast. There are practical use cases, and it is very usable. I haven’t tried it on WSL2, but it seems like a practical approach without reliance on Microsoft. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago

  • Sxmo: Linux tiling window manager for phones
There's a piece of software called Waydroid[1] that allows you to run Android applications on GNU/Linux platforms - including the PinePhone. Sxmo, despite its name, can run Wayland instead of X and therefore supports Waydroid. Personally, I haven't managed to get Waydroid to work, a task hindered due to some massive initial downloads which are required to set it up. However, I haven't tried particular hard, and... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
