The Best Code Interview Prep Platforms in 2020
Interviewing.io takes a very unique approach to coding interview prep. Rather than providing content and practice coding challenges, Interviewing.io has a library of actual video interviews that you can watch, and you can pay to anonymously take a mock interview with an engineering hiring manager.

  • Ask HN: Any previous experience with interviewing.io dedicated coaches?
    Interviewing.io[1] lets users to practice mock interviews (coding interviews) with peers or professional interviewers. These interviews are anonymous. They also offer mentorship sessions with “dedicated coaches” from FAANG or other backgrounds. They claim 99% satisfaction rate and 82% of success (landing a job in the desired company). It sounds really vague and difficult to verify due to the anonymous aspect. Does... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Guidance for cracking coding interviews
    There is also https://interviewing.io/, but that platform is a rip off. Either you need to pay an arm and a leg, or you need to trade two interviews that you do for others in exchange for a single interview that you receive. Pramp is much better in that respect. With Pramp, you interview the other job-hunter for 30 minutes and they interview you for 30 minutes. It's a much fairer exchange. Source: 5 months ago
  • Failing C++ Job Interviews
    There are also some services I've used in the past like https://interviewing.io/ that give mock interviews with actual feedback from a human instead of the blank wall that is every company's recruiting team (I think they will give you a few mock interviews for free in exchange for the chance to refer you to a few tech companies.). • I'm Sorry I Bit You During My Job Interview
    I'm not affiliated with them, but it seems like paying for a one time consultation/mock interview through https://interviewing.io/ might help uncover something useful. It does suck to have to pay to hear the "other side". Is this "Honesty as a Service"..? - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Not sure how to get my career started

  • Debugging Silent Create Action Failures in Rails
    I often work with beginner Rails developers through The Odin Project and The Agency of Learning. One common pain point people may run into while learning is the dreaded "silent create action" failure. You've written your model, controller, and routes for a new resource, you've built the form view for creating this resource, but when you fill out the form and click the submit button, nothing happens. And the logs... - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
  • Question about bootcamp (Skillstorm, Galvanize)
    Why haven't you tried some other affordable bootcamp alternatives - theodinproject.com - open web development bootcamp - fullstackopen.com - free self-paced bootcamp (lack of videos and images could be a hiccup) - webdevopen.com - they offer bootcamps with project building approach and improving your problem solving skills & live support at really affordable prices. • GitHub Tutorial for Dummies?
    For GitHub, I'll say just do basic things and most importantly learn about merging and creating branch checkout, etc. Try to work with a team where if you even push in main by mistake it won't be a blunder. Tutorials are good but I was at the same place once. Git was scary lol. There are some intermediate things like rebase etc. But you won't need most of it. Just go with theodinproject.com it'll be enough and try... Source: 10 months ago
  • What do you work on as a junior frontend developer?
    I’m a self taught frontend developer for about 1.5 years now. I learnt HTML CSS JAVASCRIPT on theodinproject.com, then picked up TailwindCSS, Bootstrap and React. When I go on to job sites, the most reoccurring skills in demand are RESTful APIs, JSON, JQuery, SASS, GraphQL so I’m currently trying to learn those and create projects with them. And yes, I have created a few websites by following Youtube videos and... Source: 10 months ago
