The Best Code Interview Prep Platforms in 2020
Interviewing.io takes a very unique approach to coding interview prep. Rather than providing content and practice coding challenges, Interviewing.io has a library of actual video interviews that you can watch, and you can pay to anonymously take a mock interview with an engineering hiring manager.

  • Ask HN: Any previous experience with interviewing.io dedicated coaches?
    Interviewing.io[1] lets users to practice mock interviews (coding interviews) with peers or professional interviewers. These interviews are anonymous. They also offer mentorship sessions with “dedicated coaches” from FAANG or other backgrounds. They claim 99% satisfaction rate and 82% of success (landing a job in the desired company). It sounds really vague and difficult to verify due to the anonymous aspect. Does... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Guidance for cracking coding interviews
    There is also https://interviewing.io/, but that platform is a rip off. Either you need to pay an arm and a leg, or you need to trade two interviews that you do for others in exchange for a single interview that you receive. Pramp is much better in that respect. With Pramp, you interview the other job-hunter for 30 minutes and they interview you for 30 minutes. It's a much fairer exchange. Source: 7 months ago
  • Failing C++ Job Interviews
    There are also some services I've used in the past like https://interviewing.io/ that give mock interviews with actual feedback from a human instead of the blank wall that is every company's recruiting team (I think they will give you a few mock interviews for free in exchange for the chance to refer you to a few tech companies.). • I'm Sorry I Bit You During My Job Interview
    I'm not affiliated with them, but it seems like paying for a one time consultation/mock interview through https://interviewing.io/ might help uncover something useful. It does suck to have to pay to hear the "other side". Is this "Honesty as a Service"..? - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

  • I'm trying to make a basic political borders map of a galaxy that's not the milky way
    I mean, there are plenty of good deep sky images out there. Try looking at the New General Catalogue (NGC) objects for something that strikes your fancy. Alternatively, you could cruise around in Space Engine and bookmark an interesting galaxy to get screenshots from multiple angles, which is what I usually do. (SE is available on Steam for a reasonable price.). Source: 11 months ago
  • Asteroid's Near Miss of Earth Undetected for 2 Days
    Computer says yes: https://gravitysimulator.org/ https://spaceengine.org/ Once the mass, velocity, heading of an object is known it becomes easier to track and fine tune parameters meaning time of intersect with earth can be calculated which gives orientation of planet and entry attitude. An exact street addres | sub metre grid reference is a big ask, but the "line of breakup" arcing across a narrow slice of the... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago

  • Galaxy/Universe Creator/Generator
    This is a bit of a tall order. There are none that I know of; most folks I know who do galaxy maps either make them by hand with their digital paint tools of choice, or utilize the procedurally-generated ones from Space Engine. Up until recently SE had a free (old) version available on the site; you should still be able to find a mirror of it somewhere but I don't know of one personally. Otherwise, SE is available...
