IDrive mentions (17)

  • idrive security concern
I'm just testing idrive service and maybe I'm missing the point but it looks that anyone who gain access to idrive.com is able to get any file from any local drive, I mean any file. And even there're no notification that I should enable 2FA. And this mean that some employees could get access as well. Source: 7 months ago
  • Site unreachable via Starlink
With ZERO changes made to any of my devices, I am now able to reach idrive.com from all my devices. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Best Cloud Storage for Photos
Hello, I'm interested in what cloud service you use to store your photos and if you only use one cloud service or several, "just in case" . I think it would be interesting to analyze from our own experience relation to price/quality/security ratio/possibility to access thumbnail photos and also to give upload access for a directory. In google searches I found that for those who don't want to make a business out... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Looking for a competitively priced service to host files for my study group
If you're really just wanting to store the files, then iDrive is pretty hard to beat on pricing - they've been running a 90% off promo on their 5 TB plan for a while now to where you can get a whole year of it for only $7.95 (total, not per month). Even on non-promo they're near impossible to beat on pricing. Source: over 1 year ago
  • iDrive doesn't delete remote backup files?
Is there a way to set it up so that I can sync my folder to reflect all local changes? I only need it one way. I don't access these files from other devices, nor do I go to idrive.com directly, so I will never need server->local syncing. Source: over 1 year ago

  • DwarFS – The Deduplicating Warp-Speed Advanced Read-Only File System
I think Kopia would be great for your use case https://kopia.io/ It has a great system to snapshot files but only store data if it's changed. I use it in an environment where I can't use something like zfs to snapshot data because I don't have the ability to make decisions about what filesystem we're using. It's been amazing, love it so much! - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
  • I Backup
I've been happy with: https://kopia.io/ Fairly easy to configure, does snapshots to S3 and has a icon in my tray I can watch :). - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Very strange behavior/bug - devices stuck together
Btw, kopia is one fine backup tool. Apparently borgbackup is good too. Source: 6 months ago
  • Borgbase backups have been unavailable for 3 days – recovery is at 26%
I used their trial for a bit to test it out with Vorta [1] in a container. Vorta (and Borg) seemed to work fine, until I wanted to restore an archive and I noticed that my recent snapshots were completely empty. Probably because of a misconfiguration on my end though. But it made me look elsewhere. For me backups should be a fire, test and forget solution. Recently I made the switch to Kopia [2] which seems to... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Self-hosted backup manager with web UI?
Check kopia - https://kopia.io/ Duplicati was nice for me until my first Complete DR test.... Then I trash it , and burn it with fire.... Other comments already pint you to why so I will not extend to it.... Source: 11 months ago
