HN Comments Owl mentions (7)

  • Most promoted and blocked domains among Kagi Search users
Comments Owl for Hacker News [1] adds a mute button to comments and user profiles which lets you do this. If you want to roll a quick version of your own, once you've identified rows containing comments you want to block, you need to hide all subsequent rows which have a higher indent. I see there's now an "indent" attribute in the DOM which would make this even easier. [1] - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • The UI of Hacker News Is Perfect
Definitely not perfect. The default "collapse comment" buttons being right-aligned is pure insanity, IMO. They should be left-aligned so they're all in line with each other as you scroll down the page, so you barely have to move your mouse. Fortunately this extension[1] takes care of that. • Ask HN: How do you keep up with replies to comment threads on HN?
For keeping track of replies to my own comments, as previously mentioned there's the threads link at the top of the page, as well as https://hnreplies.com/ and https://hnnotify.xyz/. You can also use https://hnrss.github.io/ or http://hnapp.com/ to make RSS feeds of various types. If there's a post that is particularly interesting and you want to be able to keep abreast of new comments in it, I've found the HN... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

  • Ask HN: How do you use HN?
    >Do you use browser plugins or user scripts? https://github.com/insin/hn-comments-owl I've also been writing a Godot app for HN off an on for a while now. It isn't ready for prime time but here's what it looks like[0]. >Also, what are your habits around HN? I tend to lurk the new comments page. I check this site constantly, and use it as a distraction from more worthwhile projects. It's pathetic, this place is... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago

  • OpenAI just replaced its core values with completely different ones
The Orion browser might be an answer https://browser.kagi.com/ I haven't personally tried this browser as I'm on Android but heard of it as I'm a Kagi subscriber. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Vivaldi Takes a Bite Out of the Apple: Introducing Vivaldi on iOS
It sure seems most browser makers aren't trying very hard with the WebKit thing to still be themselves. Check out https://browser.kagi.com/ for one that wraps WebKit with web extensions and other goodness in a unique brand feeling browser. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Vivaldi Takes a Bite Out of the Apple: Introducing Vivaldi on iOS
Orion is the first browser on iOS that has convinced me to move away from safari. From the Kagi team, and admittedly still in beta, it's fast, rejects telemetry, and allows install of Chrome and Firefox extensions. The built-in pop up and blocking is great, and nukes YT ads too. Still a little rough around the edges (sometimes freezes; restart it; and switching orientation is slow), but the pros outweigh the cons.... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • YouTube's crackdown on ad blockers intensifies
I'm trying out Orion by Kagi: https://browser.kagi.com/ They're WebKit-based and for MacOS/iOS/iPadOS only, so they don't get max points for browser diversity, and I can't run it on my Linuxes. As far as I understand, they plan to target more operating systems, and to target the most popular add-ons for other browsers. I'm not satisfied until it supports an OS-agnostic (non-sucky, no thank you 1Password) password... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
