Many of the standard handwritten fonts don't always connect properly and still look like desktop typeography. There was a pretty slick application from handwriting.io years ago that used an API that would use different variations of u/c and l/c characters so they looked more realistic. There is a neural network tool that is supposed to help you pair fonts: https://fontjoy.com/. I don't find it always works particularly well, but if you keep generating it can give you some ideas on which to pair with it (you can choose a font and lock it in). Source: about 1 year ago
