Datastore mode had its start in App Engine's early days (launched in 2008), where its Datastore was the original scalable NoSQL database provided for all App Engine apps. Microsoft doesn't have built-in solutions for migrating data between tenants, so you or your consultant will need to use third party tools. The consultant we hired used Quest (https://www.quest.com/migration-manager/) for migrating Exchange data like mailboxes/groups and OneDrive.
