I can't help you with costs but I read that MP4s are much smaller than GIFs so you could consider converting any format to MP4 before it's hosted. There's a Linux version of FFMPEG that could be hosted online that could do the conversion. Also, certain sites like Reddit only accept GIF's created on giphy.com, if there's a way around this, I'd love to know. Source: 10 months ago

Go to giphy.com upload your image and after choose the "filter" section on top. Then pick your filter and then "upload to giphy" to apply it. Save it to your computer. Source: 10 months ago

I'm on pixey.org instance and when I view @dansup@pixelfed.social from my instance, I see that he only has 41 followers and 75 posts but when I see his profile on pixelfed.social instance via incognito, I see that he has 10k followers and 556 posts (as of 11 July, 2023). Source: 10 months ago
