Yeah, still under $3k from Asia to US West Coast according to freightos.com. Source: over 1 year ago
Btw if you're interested in this stuff check out freightos.com - I thought it was a cool idea (and apparently fairly novel in that industry). It's like a travel booking website but for freight. It can be fun to play around with the settings and see how much it would cost to ship stuff all over. Also check out this documentary from WSJ if you haven't seen it yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KtTAb9Tl6E It talks... Source: almost 2 years ago
Where do I compare prices for this? Is freightos.com any good? Other alternative? I cannot fill a container with the stuff I want to bring. Source: about 2 years ago
Just run a search on freightos.com and compare. If your shipment is FOB, you shouldn't be paying a local fee at origin. I'm not sure if they LA local fee is drayage? The base ocean rate looks OK. Source: over 2 years ago
Whereas FBX since they started factoring in premiums, and also Platts channel checks, are much more aligned with the quotes I get from forwarders (and from freightos marketplace) I use this article as general reference https://www.freightwaves.com/news/different-container-indexes-vastly-different-rates-which-is-right. Look at these guys for jobs. Talk with a commercial insurance broker for the rest. Source: 6 months ago
I used https://goshare.co/ , which is sort of like Uber for delivery. It connects you to a guy with a truck. We both put the treadmill in the truck back, then he drove to my place. Cost for delivery was 43 minutes * $0.99/min = $42.57 . The used Nordictrack 1750 treadmill cost $200 (retails near $2000 new). I've run thousands of miles on the treadmill since then, some with intense HIIT -- no issues. Source: about 1 year ago
There's this Uber-esque thing for furniture called GoShare I found. Anyone have experience with it? My estimate was $84, which is better. Source: over 1 year ago
Look at goshare.co they are hooked up with places like Ikea and furniture stores. IDK if they're in your area, but if they are, it could give you a good base to start your business. Source: over 2 years ago
I can get stake trucks, vans and other kinds for $19.95/day all day long. And, there's apps like goshare.co for that stuff, too. Source: over 2 years ago
