Use https://freetubeapp.io for desktop OSes I think there are other apps for mobile OSes (no idea I don't watch YT on mobile. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Firefox slow to load YouTube? Just another front in Google's war on ad blockers
I just use a free desktop client called Freetube instead ( https://freetubeapp.io ). Don't even have to login or create a profile, and there's a ton of UI customization options built in. Voila -- no more Google shenanigans. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

I use FreeTube also. This is what I am using on my Mac. They have the app for Windows, MacOSx64, and various Linux OSs. No app for iOSs but maybe if we support him he may want to go further. On my Android tablet and phone I am using Grayjay, which also is another alternative. Source: 5 months ago
  • How to block YT ads like a champ
[FreeTube](https://freetubeapp.io/) \- Unlike the next 3, this will require a download, however it has a UI that looks closest to Youtube, downloads, 1080p and more! And is available on Linux as well. Source: 6 months ago

  • Whisper includes ads in transcription?
Man, just happened the same to me. I was transcribing some clases using the large model and theres a point in the video that the teacher gets a 5 minute break, and what happens? I get the following (https://imgur.com/a/8HQdpng). It is in spanish but says, brought by amara.org, which is a web that subtitltles things and then a lot of ads. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need a time coded translation service
Https://amara.org/ ? You just link your video, and volunteers can/will translate it to whatever language you want. Source: about 1 year ago
  • BBC's Modi Documentary - Indian Language Subtitling Project

  • Unfortunate YouTube Closed Captioning.
The best thing is Amara, and is in fact what Google shunted in place when they removed community captioning, giving creators a whole 3 months (or something similarly piddly) of one of their paid services for free. It's not an equivalent experience though, as folks have to go elsewhere AND know a volunteer-captioned video exists in the first place. Separate but equal is not equal. Source: over 1 year ago
