No one cares where a writer went to school or prison, they only care that you can write. With a BA in Creative Writing and English, you could get proofreading jobs. You can apply with specific presses, or go freelance. You could proofread everything from CVs to manuscripts and academic theses, depending on what sounds exciting for you. I work full-time as a freelance writer. My best piece of advice is to figure out your niche (health, finance, tech, lifestyle etc...) and approach a few brand name blogs or publications and ask if you can write an article for them for free to publish on their site. I just wanted to say, for anyone reading this far: this is the sort of thing you can hire a programmer to whip up for you to carry around on your phone. u/dark_rug just up and did it, but for anybody else finding themselves with a little spreadsheet to do calculations that they want to work on their phone or in the browser, you can go to a service like upwork.com and put out a request for bids from contract...
