I think a PO33 is a great sampler and I love it (I made some videos with it) BUT if you've never made any music you'd better start with a DAW like FL or Ableton, Cubase ecc.. I recommend also Fast tracker II (https://16-bits.org/ft2.php) which is free, It's a great piece of software that can achieve a lot. Maybe you also just want “generic old console sound” but I’m going to try to be more on target here. This is a fairly new, standalone software environment with support for emulating many different classic sound chips. I’m not sure exactly how it works in SNES mode and it may not be that user friendly if you’re used to a DAW but it at least claims to have an SNES mode and it’s free. Source: over 1 year ago
