10 Most Popular Linux Distros of the Year 2023
EndeavourOS is known for its simplicity and at the same time for having the Arch’s cutting-edge features. It adopts the lightweight Xfce desktop environment by default but if you have an active internet connection then can use its graphical Calamares installer that allows you to choose between Plasma, Gnome, Mate, Cinnamon, Budgie, LxQt, LxDe, and i3-wm while installing...
12 Best Linux Distros You Should Use
For starters, it comes with a customized Calamares installer, which makes installation easy. EndeavourOS does not have “flavors,” instead it prompts and asks you to select the desktop environment of your choice in Calamares during the installation. Besides, EndeavourOS has a great community and is a stellar alternative to Manjaro, or even Arch, for that matter. If all you...

  • Using Linux Full-Time 2 years later
And I ended up picking EndeavourOS, Why? Manjaro had a bad reputation at the time of my research and the package holding back, Garuda has too much eye candy in the fresh install that bugs me, Arco... • help out a noob
Usually I recommend linux mint for beginners but hyprland may be a little bit hard to install there. So maybe in your case the best option is an arch based system with a graphical installer. A lot of people here recommend endeavourOS. Download the iso, install it to a VM and take your first steps. Once you are a little bit familiar with it, you may try to set up dual boot and run it on bare metal. Take small... Source: 7 months ago
  • I don't understand audio, I experiment things with my laptop audio, it will work then it won't work. (Using EasyEffects)
Let me close with a tip. Check out the Arch Wiki. IIRC EndevourOS is a fork of Arch. Note the British spelling ;-). Source: 11 months ago
  • How exactly does dual boot work?
Taking my advice means you might want to remove Arch, for now. Get Mint or Pop, spend some time with them to learn more about Linux, how Linux works, the various software and tools, how to configure and customize it. Once you are more knowledgeable (weeks/months later), then go read the Arch Wiki. Along with reading the Arch Wiki check out Average Linux User on youtube (... Source: 11 months ago

Cairo Shell mentions (2)

  • Microsoft is turning Windows 11's Start Menu into an advertisement delivery system
Back when I was an edgy teenager I tried every Windows desktop shell replacement available. My favorites were LiteStep and Emerge Desktop. I was there when Cairo Shell first emerged but has never tried a working version since I moved to other OSes before any usable version was out. I am now using Windows for work and I think it’s time to revisit these options. Source: over 1 year ago
  • My first personal server
Hyper-V Server 2019 gets my vote, with the Cairo Desktop it's a near unbeatable setup. Add the FoD pack, browser of your choice, Windows Admin Center for local management of the entire system including virtualized guests. It's a very robust enterprise grade server that requires NO LICENSE and ends up having a very nice GUI for a core server. Source: over 2 years ago
