According to encyclopedia.com the $5/d he offered was to appease his workers who were actively trying to unionise. He used gangsters to beat and kill his employees for trying to unionise. Source: about 1 year ago
The university of Houston, Chicago public library, Encyclopedia Britannica, and encyclopedia.com all say the maximum amount of people in gulags was during stalin's reign and was 2.5 million people. Wikipedia has a number on the total amount of people passed through the gulags, but I think that number should not be used, as it sums up EVERY SINGLE imprisonment ever, even if they were released. Https://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/s5/ And I just tweaked the CSS and added a bit of logic to included the possibility of one image per slide; as well as editing slides not with raw HTML but with https://zim-wiki.org (because that's what I'm really used to, I'm sure any Markdown thing would work just as well). - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
Absolutely; recently I realize I wish I'd never learned vim. I use too many other programs that are at least CUA-ish ( http://zim-wiki.org is the most important app I use ) and now I kind of want out. I haven't yet tried Modeless Vim, but that looks like my next experiment. https://github.com/SebastianMuskalla/ModelessVim. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
