Actually found this question really interesting. So I went to britannica.com for answers. And it seem that slaver inst part of any ideology. Its been used by everybody. From ancient Athens, to Imperial China, from Nazis in Germany to communist in Soviet Union. So I guess it was just a way of life, which most of us only recently found out is incredibly wrong. I've been using Tellico for a few years now. You can retrieve metadata from a number of sources, search for books based on ISBN and other factors, and even track lending. It's FOSS and actively maintained (latest release came out in February). It's a standalone desktop app, so no docker is necessary. Source: about 2 years ago
