Personal advise (as per both old+new landmarks): Just do your research on your main, unsecured OS. The bluntly claim "it is an extension of your brain for thinking purposes.. No intention to publish". Then, if publishing of such not allowed in your region, just then encrypt it anyhow, store it online in encrypted form ("for backup purposes only") - I recommend cloud.mail.ru and adrive.com .
