• Upvote this GitHub issue. VSCode Marketplace should be open source, or at least documented. That will only mean good things to us (developers).

  Eclipse theia is that alternative, almost same as vscode but even better (more extensible, portable, etc), and even the fsf regards the eclipse license as free software, and in any case, if you're not happy with the eclipse license you can have it under the GPL anyway, it's dual license https://theia-ide.org/.   For example I can access eclipse.org in chrome without issue. I'm seeing my PA cert when I check it's trusted. However when I run the eclipse installer it fails which I suspect is because of the decryption.   After updating the Mac Air M1 Eclipse just didn't start. I downloaded AArch64 again from eclipse.org and now it works. Would there have been a smarter way to fix this? Source: over 2 years ago
