  1. It is a nice mini-blog, it's for free and such but

As a mini-blog, it is a nice alternative for Medium to publish and share information about programming.

However, the community and the organization are biased toward social justice (and they are open to it). You can read its Code of Conduct, it is so vague and politically leads (I prefer a term of service because it defines fair rules for everybody). So it alienates developers that we don't care about politics in pro of people that want to talk about any other topic such as sexuality, how women are unprivileged, and such. It even mandates to use inclusive language. Good grief.

My main complaint is the quality of the community. It is not StackOverflow (so we don't want to ask for an answer here), and most of the top topics are clickbait, such as "how to become a rockstar developer in ... days", "100 tips to become a better programmer" (and it doesn't even talk about programming).

Technically this "mini blog" site allows us to use markdown, and it is okay. However, the whole experience is really basic. Even the template is ugly.

    👍 Pros:    Free
    👎 Cons:    Social justice|Basic features|Quality of content

  • Writing an Obsidian Plugin Driven By Tests
I recently developed the initial version of Obsidian DEV Publish Plugin, a plugin that enables publishing Obsidian notes as articles on DEV. The first prototype was developed during a ~4 hour live stream. - Source: dev.to / 1 day ago

I’ve been active on twitter for about a week now. It’s still kind of new to me but something really cool happened yesterday. DEV.TO put one of my daily blogs in one of their tweets, they have like 300k+ followers, I couldn’t believe it. Very very cool, thanks a lot 🙏. - Source: dev.to / 7 days ago
  • How to use database triggers in Rails
Now let's try to create a URL. Assuming the Url model is already created, we expect that calling Url.create(long: 'https://dev.to') will return a Url object with both long and short attributes populated. However, by default, this won't happen because Rails expects that after a record is created, only the ID and timestamps can change, so it doesn't update other attributes. To make this work, I will redefine the... - Source: dev.to / 9 days ago

  • Advice please!!!
I would say try it - it may help with the anorexia too. Decreasing your anxiety could help you address the root issue. I've heard that OCD and anorexia are related as they are both compulsive disorders. I would definitely get into therapy/counseling for these issues. I'm using NOCD (treatmyocd.com) as my therapy as its covered by insurance in the USA. It's been phenomenal!! Meds are helping me to address my... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Terrified I have an rabies incubating in me after feral kitten exposure THREE YEARS AGO..How do i get this out of my head?
I’m sorry, I also developed OCD at 12 and went years without treatment so I know how tough it can be. Do you think you could try a self-guided ERP and/or CBT exercise? I have a CBT worksheet that might be of some help if you need it. Some other helpful websites are OCD-UK and NOCD. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Have any of you used online programs to manage/recover from OCD? How was your experience?
I know when you're in a bad place you can grasp at straws but (assuming you're in the US) you're better going somewhere like treatmyocd.com (NOCD) which might be covered by your insurance or trying to find a therapist through IOCDF https://iocdf.org/find-help/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • eye blinking tic
I'm seeing an ERP therapist through NOCD. She has been super helpful and if you can afford it, I definitely recommend it. After insurance, mine comes out to $50/session, but that can obviously vary. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I need some help/tips
Please please please seek out a therapist who is an OCD specialist or one who is well-practiced in Exposure Response Therapy. More likely than not, talk therapy is going to lead to you compulsing/ruminating, which will make things worse. If you are on Instagram, I strongly recommend following ObsessivelyEverAfter and YourAnxietyToolkit. They are therapists doing the work and OCD specialists and I've gotten some of...
