Mathway is great if you only want an answer, Desmos allows the user to easily visualize and calculate equations in real-time and is often used in state-issued tests, meaning it is important for the user to understand the interface. I have had a much better experience in Desmos, it has helped me simplify massive equations for practice and my hobbies, where Mathway would misunderstand my use of variables and hide the steps to the answer behind a paywall.
