We're commonly doing this with logging, using services such as Loggly or DataDog. We're using managed databases, be it on AWS, Heroku or database-vendor-specific solutions. Perhaps something like Statping or maybe healthchecks depending on what exactly you want to monitor. I definitely recommend Zabbix or Prometheus but I'm not sure about running them on a Pi Zero. Source: about 3 years ago
Outside of the on-prem homelab I have a VPS that I use to serve anything that I feel needs to have a better uptime and redundancy than what I can provide here. What I mean by that is, I recently moved to Canada from the USA for work and wanted to ensure that the sites I use would be up incase anyone would want it.
