They host a snapshot of the db on chia.net so you no longer have to do a full sync so you could just grab the v2 and manually update the rest of the way which shouldn't take too long (not sure on the exact time I surmise less than a day or 2- its a long time since I've had to do a resync). In terms of comparing rates - coin gecko works pretty well. Apps like cryptoradar and cryptolens can be useful for helping break down the rates associated with each exchange aswell (a exchange might have a good rate, but charger a marker taker fee in the end). Source: about 3 years ago
