  • Learn AutoHotKey by stealing my scripts
I use AutoKey on Linux. It's less powerful than AHK but uses native Python which is nice: https://github.com/autokey/autokey. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D: Windows 11 vs. Ubuntu 23.04 Linux Performance
On Linux, the more direct equivalent to AHK is the similarly named AutoKey. AHK itself is never going to be cross-platform, due to the low-level it interacts specifically with Windows, but AutoKey is the Linux equivalent, designed to interact low-level with Linux in a similar way to AHK on Windows. • Text expansion app for Linux
I've seen people mention AutoKey but I've never used it myself: https://github.com/autokey/autokey. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ergonomic lefty for Chromebook, with a good middle-click?
You can also try remapping mouse buttons. I use autohotkey to remap the middle clock to the right click. Autohotkey is windows only, but there is autokey which might help if you are a heavy middle click user like me. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Macros for Linux? Like autoit, or automated mouse/keyboard presses.
There's also Autokey, not Wayland compatible though. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Show HN: A website for remote workers to find Airbnb's with good Internet
This is a really good idea. For years I've wanted to know: - Which AirBNB hosts actually have a good "dedicated workspace". Criteria: at least a 30" deep desk, and a comfortable adjustable height office chair. - Which AirBNB rental units actually have fast internet. Ideal in a perfect world: Let me ping their router, or somehow get the airbnb host to visit https://speedof.me or a similar site, then upload the... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Just bought UDM-SE, can't complete initial setup
After factory reset... When selecting Offline setup, it is possible to log in to the UDM. From there, when setting up the internet connection, filling up the PPPoE data, device manages to get IP and connects to the internet but: - UDM-SE -> network -> dashboard -> speed test fails - https://speedof.me/ - won't load - https://account.ui.com/ - won't load - https://www.youtube.com/ - works - google... • Why so slow going through the Pi-Hole?
What one do you suggest? Most of the popular ones have paid routes/results from isp's. Speedof.me was supposed to be totally independent. Source: 10 months ago
  • It's 4am. I just "unthrottled myself" but now I'm very upset
Both real world (I was trying to use steam to update things) and on the 19th when I think this glitch first started I was downloading a ubuntu image from their official download link (so I assume it should be able to stream a pretty solid bitrate. Basically steam (which should be able to cap my connection no problem), random website traffic, speedof.me and the waveform buffer bloat tests all showed me hard pegged... Source: 11 months ago
