It's been a couple years since I last looked into audiobooks.com, but I recall that Audible had the advantage on selection and also by having the (limited) option of returning books. The option to return books was pretty important to me. Source: about 1 year ago
Try a different supplier? Not sure what there is in the US. My alternative is audiobooks.com or Scribd. You could also try the library, I know some of them rent audiobooks. Source: over 1 year ago

Audiobooks.com You get 1 credit a month, which can either be used to purchase a book (that you can listen to any time) or you can use it for a 1 month membership to an all you can listen to club. They have several clubs - Romance, Religion, Mystery, etc, and for that month you can listen to as many books as you want that are included in that club. Very cool! My current setup is: * Buy book on Audible * Remove DRM with OpenAudible [0] (paid software) * Add them to my AudioBooks Plex library * Use Prologue [1] to listen to the books on my phone (it connects to Plex) I like my podcast app (Overcast) a lot but it's not made for audiobooks whereas Prologue is.
