I make $2,000 per month after tax, healthcare and 401K. I pay car insurance, private student loans (and federal will come due soon), phone bill, gas and a gym membership, totaling $1,140 / month. This leaves me with $860. The usual standard is 30% of my income ($800 max) which, according to apartmentlist.com for a 1/1, does not exist in my state. Looking at Zillow, I can confirm this. Cheapest 1/1 apartment is... Source: 10 months ago
"Shelter" which is comprised of "Rent" and "Owners Equivalent Rent" (OER) has a 35% weighting in the headline CPI number - higher in the Core CPI number. In May, the BLS reported YoY Shelter inflation of +8.0% which was comprised of +8.7% on Rent and +8.0% on OER. Alternatively, Zillow reported that average home prices are only up +2.0% and Redfin is saying that they're down -1.0%. ApartmentList.com said that rent... Source: 11 months ago
The apartment database sites (padmapper.com, apartmentlist.com, zeus, blueground etc) are apparently super unreliable and are scams, and the apartments I've found (Blackbird, Elise, Equity Residential, Grand Parc, etc) are apparently the same. The sites/buildings that I do hear relatively good things about (77H, Sonder, VRBO, AirBnb) are out of my price range (<$2200 for a studio) or aren't short-term enough (2... Source: 12 months ago
So I am a soon-to-be college graduate and am going to be moving to Minneapolis in June and have begun to look for apartments. Are there any recommendations for apartment complexes or places to live? For reference, I will be working close to the Cedar Hurst area. I found a couple of places like Hello apartments and Deco 265 apartments on apartmentlist.com but wasn't sure about anything yet. Thanks for the suggestion! I've been looking on apartmentlist.com which seems a lot like apartments.com. Regardless, I'll check it out. Thanks again! Source: over 1 year ago
I dont know what your skills and experience levels are, but Target and Costco pay over $15 an hr, also Hobby Lobby. Pricewise you could be as low as $800 or so up to whatever really, depends on a lot of factors, what part of town do you want to be in or what do you want to be near, nightlife/restaurant high activity parts of town or more suburby/residential, near the college campus, etc. I'd say just go to... I did use htpads.c which helped with rentals as well as Zillo and apartments.com some places waved the realtor fee but none that I was personally looking at. I am noticing that there are a lot of rights for tenants if you look around. I wish you the best and hope you could find a place within the anticipated time. Source: over 1 year ago
I'm looking via hotpads.com, but if there's a better way to discover condos, please let me know! :). Source: over 1 year ago
Look for small private landlords instead of big buildings. Condos, small apartment buildings, basement apartments, that kind of thing. Sometimes they won't have that policy at all, or if they do you might be able to talk to them about being flexible on it, maybe giving them something else to prove that you're responsible. I'm in DC so I know the struggle. I've found things like this on hotpads.com, craigslist, and... Source: over 1 year ago
