  • Dating a 33 year old guy who doesn't have a car & lives with his parents?
I make $2,000 per month after tax, healthcare and 401K. I pay car insurance, private student loans (and federal will come due soon), phone bill, gas and a gym membership, totaling $1,140 / month. This leaves me with $860. The usual standard is 30% of my income ($800 max) which, according to apartmentlist.com for a 1/1, does not exist in my state. Looking at Zillow, I can confirm this. Cheapest 1/1 apartment is... Source: 10 months ago
  • Implications of Shelter Methodology on CPI, Fed Policy, and Economy
"Shelter" which is comprised of "Rent" and "Owners Equivalent Rent" (OER) has a 35% weighting in the headline CPI number - higher in the Core CPI number. In May, the BLS reported YoY Shelter inflation of +8.0% which was comprised of +8.7% on Rent and +8.0% on OER. Alternatively, Zillow reported that average home prices are only up +2.0% and Redfin is saying that they're down -1.0%. ApartmentList.com said that rent... Source: 10 months ago
  • Are the Facebook sublet groups the only legitimate housing option?
The apartment database sites (padmapper.com, apartmentlist.com, zeus, blueground etc) are apparently super unreliable and are scams, and the apartments I've found (Blackbird, Elise, Equity Residential, Grand Parc, etc) are apparently the same. The sites/buildings that I do hear relatively good things about (77H, Sonder, VRBO, AirBnb) are out of my price range (<$2200 for a studio) or aren't short-term enough (2... Source: 12 months ago
  • Moving to Minneapolis, what are some good places to live?
So I am a soon-to-be college graduate and am going to be moving to Minneapolis in June and have begun to look for apartments. Are there any recommendations for apartment complexes or places to live? For reference, I will be working close to the Cedar Hurst area. I found a couple of places like Hello apartments and Deco 265 apartments on apartmentlist.com but wasn't sure about anything yet. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Off-Campus Apartments
Thanks for the suggestion! I've been looking on apartmentlist.com which seems a lot like apartments.com. Regardless, I'll check it out. Thanks again! Source: over 1 year ago
  • Just released CPI 8.2%, NDX futures fell 2%, the market bet on the Fed to continue to raise interest rates in November by 75 basis points.
Multiple important factors in CPI have issues in the way how they collecting data. You can go check some talk from Omair Sharif. He did mention some health care number issue in CPI report. Most important thing I'm following now is the rent number from private sector like zillow, zumper and apartmentlist.com. They are all showing rental falling MoM since last month. But the rent number in CPI had been lagging... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Where to search for Boulder area apartments?
I'm using apartmentlist.com but wondering if there are better options (Facebook Marketplace, etc.). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Hoping for some advice -- moving from NY to Chicago and don't know where to start
I live on Long Island and my apartment lease ends in the middle of October. I plan to (finally) vacate NY and move to Chicago. I have not found an apartment yet. I've started scouring Zillow and apartmentlist.com, which has been putting me in touch with some of the management companies. I have never moved out of state by myself, so my loose plan is:. • Buy or rent?
According to apartmentlist.com that's about the average rent for a 1-bedroom in Seattle. Source: about 2 years ago
  • What’s the best way to look for apartments in Denver?
I liked apartmentlist.com when I was looking. It categorizes places by price, features, location, commute distance, etc so you can see what you can or cannot compromise on. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Apartments for 1300 and under
I've used apartmentlist.com, it's great for finding apartments that match your requirements. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Apt or Temp Housing For Part Of The Week (Northfield, Dundas, or surrounding area that's super close)
I've taken a look on Apartments.com , Apartmentlist.com, Trulia, AirBnB, to find a relatively affordable place in town (I might be dreaming there).... But no luck. I would be losing money renting out AirBnBs with how they're priced. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Apartment hunting
I have used apartmentlist.com's mobile app for the last 3 apartments I've leased in the last 5 years all over DFW. It's incredible and has improved every time I have used it. You will easily be able find a place based on the search options it offers. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Hit with Apartment List Fee, as the renter
Los Angeles, CA - Today, in my mailbox, I found an envelope that was put there by my landlord with an invoice from Apartment List inside. The invoice details the fee that they charge property management companies when someone uses their website (apartmentlist.com) to find an apartment and actually moves in. So, this invoice does not seem to be for me, but for the property management company, but it appears that... Source: over 2 years ago
  • US Gov misreporting about rent inflation
I poked around on apartmentlist.com and found their methodology details. They calculate their "national rent index" in a VERY different way. They only use data from newly signed leases. This does not accurately represent CPI or PL. Source: over 2 years ago
  • US Gov misreporting about rent inflation
Apartmentlist.com seems like it's more realistic. Wish I could live where BLS is getting their calculations, but it's probably from homeowners in Kansas or some shit. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Where to look for apartments? (Realtor/Websites etc)
Apartmentlist.com - interesting but not the best. You can enter your requirements/desired amenities and then go through listing and swipe left or right like tindr. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How to search for apartments effectively? Recommendations?
I've been compiling apartment information in Excel but I've noticed that the Craigslist ads can disappear within hours which then makes some of the work I put into it useless. Plus I just feel uneasy about the Craigslist ads in general. I've also used apartments.com (and apartmentlist.com but it doesn't seem up to date because the sites of the apartments say nothing is available.). Source: over 2 years ago
  • If an apartment/condo is up for sale will the rent to new renters generally be far cheaper than if it were not?
Found this great unit in a great area on apartmentlist.com that is far cheaper than I expected it to be. After doing some research I found that the apartment complex was put up for sale 2 days ago. I also checked what I assumed was the realtor's estimated mortgage payment and found it to be $200 higher than the rent (i'm not sure if it is a complex or just one unit and I don't live in the state so I can't just go... • Is saving 18K + a salary of 62K a year enough to move to Chicago?
I don't know, man. Is apartmentlist.com accurate? I've found numerous studio apartments for $850 - $950 at Lincoln Park. Of course, at Lakeview, Ravenswood, and DePaul. They just have minimal amenities (all I care about is washer/dryer anyway). Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Impulse domain purchase
About a year ago, while I was working on adding an easter egg to our website on apartmentlist.com, I had one of those brilliant(!!) domain idea moments. I'm not gonna tell you where exactly the easter egg is, for those of you who enjoy finding them, but I can tell you that it has something to do with Star Wars (big fan!) and ApartmentList 404 page.
