Apache Tika can spit out text from lots of formats. I've used it with grep (or rg) to make a small scale searching of local folders. Tika does a really good job at OCR for finding if text is in a file. Source: about 1 year ago

I'll assume it's the latter. Mocks are quick apis you can set up (mockable.io is a popular one) in a couple minutes that can be configured to provide an endpoint and a static response that you tell it to. Using that, you can hit the mock endpoint with your front end code.
