I'll assume it's the latter. Mocks are quick apis you can set up (mockable.io is a popular one) in a couple minutes that can be configured to provide an endpoint and a static response that you tell it to. Using that, you can hit the mock endpoint with your front end code. I tend to use MockServer. With MockServer you can define inputs, so you can say that the request should look like this with that URL, etc etc. That way you can verify that the request looks okay. Source: about 2 years ago
