  • Women Who Code Closing
    > he took over Twitter and ran it into the ground https://companiesmarketcap.com/twitter/marketcap/ > while at the same time tanking the goodwill people had for Tesla https://companiesmarketcap.com/tesla/marketcap/ Before you reply about the obviously lower valuation over the last few years, take a look at some comparable companies: https://companiesmarketcap.com/ The economic realities of Musk's ventures does not... - Source: Hacker News / 19 days ago
  • Open source versus Microsoft: The new rebellion begins
Https://companiesmarketcap.com/ - Microsoft is the number one most valuable (publicly traded) company on the planet. Microsoft has been "competing with free/libre and self-determination" for literally decades and they have been able to do it because free/libre isn't something most people care for in the slightest, and self-determination struggles to do the boring bits well - and that's most bits - or to... - Source: Hacker News / 22 days ago
  • Nvidia adds $277B in market value, Wall Street's largest one-day gain in history
This is dot-com rush all over again, but it's worth keeping in mind the dot-com rush (with some poetic license) gave us Google, Amazon, Meta, and much of the value of modern Apple+Microsoft. Those are five of the top ten companies in the world by market cap. Not many more dot-coms on the list of top 100 though: https://companiesmarketcap.com/ It was a winner-takes-all market with a few big winners and a lot of... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Ask HN: Why aren't there any trillion dollar companies in the UK?
I'm always surprised Tesla's valuations ($737B). TSMC is only worth a paltry $512B. British Petroleum and Shell Oil seem like they'd meet the requirements for >$100B company? https://companiesmarketcap.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • TSMC – the world's most important company. And everyone wants control of it
There's an actual measure of how important companies are and how many want control of it and how much they want, and TSMC is #12: https://companiesmarketcap.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Is AMZN a long hold anymore vs alternative investments?
To start - check this site: https://companiesmarketcap.com/. Source: 10 months ago
  • Anchor your mental price targets in company market cap, not price-per-share
My handy rule-of-thumb is to multiply the share price * 3.17 to roughly estimate the market cap ... And see if that still makes sense. For example, $300 a share would be a market cap of $951 billion. If you look here that makes them bigger than Facebook, Eli Lilly, Visa, JP Morgan, etc. Does that make sense to you? (not speculating one way or another on that). Source: 10 months ago
  • Can Tesla continue to grow and innovate at the rate the market is expecting?
Go by market cap (that's what big Wall Street firms do) - does it make sense to you? If yes, invest, if not then don't. Source: 10 months ago
  • Will Joe Rogan ever have Michael Saylor on?
Or about $19,500,000 per bitcoin to pass Apple's market cap. Source: 10 months ago
  • Tesla due for a correction soon?
That would make TSLA a $3 trillion market cap company - larger than Amazon and Google combined. I just don't see it happening in the next few years. Maybe 5 years. Source: 11 months ago
  • Nvidia is now a $1T company
Saudi aramco is currently multiple hundreds of millions behind Apple and Microsoft. https://companiesmarketcap.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • NVDA: Going into earnings, question seems to be "magnitude of upside"?
Why does the #6 most valuable company on earth (according to Mr. Market) not even crack the top 300 listed companies by current annual earnings (at $4.5 billion) or even the top 400 listed companies by current annual revenues (at $27 billion)? (Source: companiesmarketcap.com). That sounds like a classic sky-high overvaluation bubble to me. Source: 12 months ago
  • Nice to see this again...
Well I guess that explains why 9 out of the top 10 market cap companies in the world are listed in the USA (2023), wow, exxon really knows their stuff. BTW, here's a reference. Https://companiesmarketcap.com/. Source: 12 months ago

  • Discussion Thread
Feels like a big missed opportunity for both parties, esp as a lot of these massive companies build out lobbying arms that are trying to proactively get regulatory clarity. The finance industry is, idk, maybe 2x the size of tech by revenue right now in the US, but just a quick look @ the biggest companies on earth by mcap shows that tech is a juggernaut despite having few political allies. Can hating something... Source: about 1 year ago
  • 10 Largest Companies in the World
The 2022 bear market in tech stocks reordered the ranking of the largest companies by market capitalization. However, the nascent tech recovery in 2023 has caused some companies to recover. But many former highfliers, like Amazon.inc (AMZN) and Metal Platforms (META), may drop out of the top 10 if current trends continue. Here are the 10 largest companies in the World in March 2023 ranked by market capitalization. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why is South Korea better than China and Taiwan?
All of this means that TSMC's market cap is larger than any company in South Korea or China - by one calculation, it's worth $150 billion more than Samsung. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Bad actors and sustainability
I know that most large companies simply don't have the ethics I am looking for, that's like the top companies by market capitalization in the world simply because people in general are pressured (through schooling and survival fears) into buying cheaply. This ends up hurting those same people (and everyone) in the long run due to this mindset. For example, most technology equipment has minerals mined from the... Source: about 1 year ago
