That said, I recommend Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, which offers something like this. Source: 5 months ago
It can be accessed at : https://cdda.social/ (You can also see it linked at https://cataclysmdda.org/, under "Project Managed Resources"). Source: 10 months ago
Dwarf Fortress Adventure mode, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, and UnReal World have many of the same sandbox and mechanical elements. Source: 11 months ago

So for some reason the installer on cataclysmdda.org isn't working for me. So I figured I'd try another way and install it via Homebrew, but I get an error:. Source: 11 months ago
So I finally tip my toes into the cold water after being on the fence of deciding whether I'm gonna go with Caves of Qud or Cataclysm next. I got both the installers for Mac from https://cataclysmdda.org/. The ASCII version works just fine, but I'd really like to start out with the tiled one as there's a shit ton of stuff happening. You know to ease my way into it, or maybe this is the one roguelike I cave and go... Source: 12 months ago
Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead or CDDA is like project zomboid but wayyyy more over the top and can be downloaded from here https://cataclysmdda.org/. Source: 12 months ago
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, without a tileset. Source: 12 months ago
If replay value is what you're after, then it sounds like roguelites and roguelikes might be right up your alley. If you're looking for something that plays similarly to Project Zomboid, then I think that you might really enjoy Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. As it was actually a major source of inspiration for Project Zomboid and it's one of the most in-depth single player games that I've had the pleasure to... Source: about 1 year ago
Steam release is literally announced on the official page of the game https://cataclysmdda.org/. Source: about 1 year ago
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is an open source post-apocalyptic rogue-like. link. Source: about 1 year ago
If you asked me for examples of games like what you've made, would you expect to get things like Rogue, C:DDA, Nethack, DCSS, Door in the Woods? If not, dont call it a rogue-anything. Source: about 1 year ago

If you enjoy Project Zomboid, I'd highly suggest giving CDDA a spin - the newest stable release just launched, and it's really in a good place right now, especially with the rise of contributors adding complex bespoke content and lore to complement the ever-refined systems. Zomboid's challenge mode "A Really CD DA" is a homage to CDDA's "Really Bad Day" starting scenario, and the two have influenced one another... Source: about 1 year ago
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a fun game about zombie survival. It's very detailed in its survival aspects, where you even have to worry about things like vitamins and body weight. There are lots of details in every part of this game, and even though I have played it for about three years now, I am still finding new things. It may take a while to get to build a mobile base, but that's what I usually build instead... Source: about 1 year ago
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - Nethack-style post-apocalyptic roguelike with graphics. Speaking of... Source: about 1 year ago
C:DDA has the most stunning ASCII I've ever seen. Imo Dwarf Fortress in MoMa shall be accompanied by this game. (+Also number of community tilesets (custom graphics for everything), available out of the box. It's not every day you find such powers of customisation easily avalable, even in open source games.). I don't know about anything simiar to Rust, but there is Cataclysm DDA. Source: about 1 year ago
Just do it. Do never fear. Everything and so much more is freely available+the linux community is amazing and helpful! VM Virtual Box, no risk involved. And here u have it: the manual to command line heaven: https://wiki.archlinux.org/ . It feels like a game where u can even choose between easy, medium and hard mode. (actual CLI games I bookmarked for later xD: https://ttygames.wordpress.com/,... Source: about 1 year ago
Loving ITR so far. Having to collect, sort and maintain gear as well as carefully prep and weigh my options during a run reminds of another of my favourite apocalyptic games - Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. https://cataclysmdda.org/. Source: about 1 year ago
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. Sort of a single-character-oriented roguelike-meets-Dwarf-Fortress post-apocalyptic game. Good, deep game, though mobile wouldn't be my first choice of platform to play it on. Source: over 1 year ago
