Lijiang: I had initially booked a fast train between Guilin and Lijiang, it would have taken 11 hours to get there. Then I found a flight on trip.com for the same price: cancelled the train, got refunded and booked the flight everything by trip.com without any problem. Lijiang old town is super nice, even if it has been "fixed" and there are many things to do around it (Tiger Leaping Gorge, Yulong Snow Mountain, etc.).

Booking.com

Apple Maps worked perfectly for me even without the VPN. It has all the public transportation (buses, metroes, etc), it shows everything (costs, bus stops, etc.) and it is super accurate. Only note sometimes you cannot find the hotels using the names (in English or Chinese) reported on booking.com since they do not seem to be accurate (see next point). Amazing experience with it. Sometimes it was not working while the VPN was activated, just remember to switch it off in case.
