Well if you join a lemmy instance or any other app on the Fediverse we'll still be part of one big network but the server load and communities will be a bit spread out but at the moment it's a friendly place and nice to get in touch with a smaller group of active people.

Reddit gives you the best of the internet in one place. Get a constantly updating feed of breaking news, fun stories, pics, memes, and videos just for you.
Sort of. Right now, the website reddit.com and several applications, call an API to create, read, update, and delete data. I'm proposing that some of those TPA's and probably another website frontend, all begin calling a different endpoint baseurl, where the API behaves just line Reddit's, but with a different actual infrastructure.

I'm currently considering saidit.net. The owner made a few good anti echo chamber and anti power mod decisions. On the other side the content is pretty wild, but that's the price to pay I guess.

RARBG just went down this week too, one of the internet's largest repositories of movies and shows. Zippyshare also went down. Internet Archive (archive.org) is under attack now too. Twitter has essentially been gutted into exclusively pushing far right pro-fascist propaganda. 2023 will be the year where the pillars of the emergent era of the internet wild west came crashing down.

Very interesting to see https://steemit.com/ near the top of that list. I remember when they got started, interesting to see how much they’ve grown.
