Chrome does support hevc playback now. Does the URL say app.plex.tv or does it show your ip address? Bc the client that's using your ip address is many versions behind the plex.tv website, and the hevc support was only updated recently.

Discuss: I don’t understand why 1080p HEVC is being transcoded to 1080p H.264 and not doing direct play. It’s reducing the image quality significantly. I googled and read it’s related to included ASS subtitles. I tried to use an SRT file but it’s still transcoding. What’s the issue? How to fix?
