Mercari

Mercari.jp is the second most popular. Don't get this confused with mercari.com, because while it is the same company, the listings aren't transferable. Mercari is basically like facebook marketplace, first come first serve. They also hate proxy services, so its harder for people not in japan to buy from them. I'll explain more in the proxy section.

Buyee is the only proxy that is partnered with Mercari. They are okay, but there are definetly some drawbacks. The biggest one is that you can only purchase off of Buyee when the listing has been up for several days. This makes it super hard to get rare chips that go fast, since you basically get sloppy seconds. The other drawback is their fees, since they have a lot of hidden fees like being able to consolidate your purchases to one package to save on shipping fees, adding insurance, etc.

Yahoo! Auctions

Yahoo Auctions is the most popular site. It's basically like ebay for japan, with the huge exception that most listings have automatic extension. This means that if someone bids under 5 minutes left, the time will extend until no one bids anymore, which is good for the buyer. This isn't always the case though so make sure to look, because there have been times where I have missed listings after not seeing that automatic extension was turned off.
