I don't think people realize how truly fucked our medical system is in America. I don't think we show the numbers often enough. These are my plan options at my current job. I make 16 an hour, and that's a RECENT raise. Do the math.

If you meet those conditions, then here's what you can do: You can go to healthcare.gov and request a premium tax credit. (Unfortunately, I don't actually know exactly how to do that. That's kind of outside my area of expertise.) If it is granted then at some point in the future your employer will be fined for failing to offer affordable coverage. It could take a couple of years, but eventually they should get a letter from the IRS (called IRS Letter 226J) which asks them to pay a penalty. The amount that they would have to pay depends on a lot of different factors.
