I mean, there are copy machines and scanners that will do this automatically if you dig around, too. But I love this app. After I create single page PDF files, I then "deskew" or straighten the pages using Adobe Acrobat Pro, which my school pays for, using the "optimize scans" feature. Sometimes you can borrow a copy of the book from http://libgen.is or http://archive.org and just "print to pdf" the chapter you need, bypassing the whole scanning process.
