  • Software for cropping PDF
Is there a very simple software JUST for cropping long PDFs files with precision, using a merged view of all the pages in a single PDF file (rather than cropping every page one by one)? I've been using bris https://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/ regularly since at least 2015, but the latest release 0.9 was in 2012 so god knows how long it's gonna take before it stops working. Also it's not a native MacOS app,... Source: about 1 year ago
  • I share some thoughts after use Quaderno A4 Gen 2 for about 1.5 year.
I use this for crop PDF https://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/ . Calibre https://calibre-ebook.com/ for convert other formats to PDF, setting default PDF output with custom size 210x280. You can try Literata, Bookly or PT Mono for code; this make text much easier to read. Source: about 1 year ago
  • "Adjust view" feature is removed in beta release 3.0.
I have prepared an uncropped and a cropped pdf for convenience [1]. If you don't trust it, you can also create your own cropped pdf with briss which you can get for free here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Reading papers on Remarkable2
In case they do, there is briss, a PDF editing tool that's very good at cropping PDFs with many pages. It creates an overlay of all pages (or left pages and right pages) and you can drag a box that covers the content of all pages so the setting for one page doesn't cut off parts of the next. It can also separate multiple pages from the same page. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How do I split a long one-page pdf into pages?
OK, try this instead - https://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • OCRmyPDF: Add an OCR text layer to scanned PDF file
Http://www.tobias-elze.de/pdfsandwich/ has been my tool for years to OCR old research papers and books. It uses Tesseract and some other tools to get the job done. It's last in my workflow after using: Briss, a simple cross-platform application for cropping PDF files: https://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/ PDF Arranger to merge or split pdf documents and rotate, crop and rearrange their pages using an interactive... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: Any piece of hardware that was more of game changer than you expected?
I've heard this a lot, but when you get good at formatting your ebooks it becomes nice for them as well. I generally use a combination of briss[1] and k2pdfopt[2] to crop the margins and sometimes split on columns etc for pdfs and it makes all the difference. Sometimes it can require a fair bit of manual tweaking, but you only have to do it once and it's very much worth it in reading experience. [1]:... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Permanently crop a pdf
I use a simple tool called Briss. It's very light and it works for me. Good luck! Source: over 2 years ago
  • How to crop PDFs (books)?
Briss pdf cropper is not the most beautiful or intuitive application, but it's the best solution I've found and I've been using it for years. If can do exactly what you describe, previewing crop across a superposition of all pages. Source: over 2 years ago
  • PDF margins question
If you're finding those cut off content though (I've not had this happen but all my PDFs are digital originals with fairly standard sizing), you can use something like Briss to manually crop the full document before transferring to the Boox. I used to use that for my Kindle and it works great. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Remarkable 2 and Academic, Double-column PDFs?
Here's what that PDF looks like on my remarkable. It's on the smaller size, but definitely comfortably readable at least for my eyes. If not, its pretty easy to zoom in on just one column at a time. I believe there's also some software that lets you split two-column pdfs, although I'm not sure what it is. I use briss to turn two-page landscape pdfs into single page pdfs, and I imagine it would work to split... Source: almost 3 years ago
