It sounds like you are currently running your game primarily via theater of the mind? It also sounds like what you're looking for is something that lets you present the maps you have to your players so they can see for themselves what their characters should be seeing, which will help make the dungeon crawl more fluid between encounters. Virtual Table Tops are super helpful for this. I am of course assuming you're not using one already. I think two of the most popular VTTs right now are roll20.net or https://foundryvtt.com/. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.
