If you do plan to go back-end, there are plenty of options there as well. I think that Java, Python, and Node.js are the primary languages, although some may argue that .NET belongs in that list as well. If going Java, I highly recommend Spring Boot, and if going with Python, I think Flask is the clear winner. I don't know much about Node and C#, but if you are interested in them I'm sure others can point you in the right direction.

Bootstrap: I know others here have mentioned this, but I'm going to chime in on it as well. Bootstrap is easy. A lot of the CSS is handled for you, and the it doesn't require a strong foundation in Javascript. However, you should have some working knowledge of JS, or you won't be able to customize anything.
