  3. Sync. com offers a backup tool and a file sharing service, rolled into one.
    I use Scrivener that backs up one copy to Dropbox. My books are on two different laptops, synched with sync.com instead of Dropbox, because the free version has more features and everything is encrypted while transferring. In Dropbox they are not. I also copy the chapters to my iPhone to a text to speak app to listen to it, so that is another backup, just in case. Sync.com has a versioning feature up to a month and a recovery of deleted files. So, that is an added security feature.
