Speedtest.net

So two things would be your friends here: speedtest.net (make sure you test the connection from your home to the nearest Centurylink office), and the advanced network monitoring functions of your router (how you get to them depends on your routers...look up the manual for your router on the net if you don't have a printed copy). Check to see your uplink and downlink speeds to the hub where you connect, then compare those speeds to the reading you get from Speedtest. If those readings are radically different, you should mention that to whoever you talk to.

CenturyLink Hosting

I connect to the Helena POP (it' about 4 blocks from my house), and my local connection has been fine, as have the gateway routers out to the rest of the internet. My guess is the problem is local, or is between Missoula and Helena. If you know how to use traceroute, if you use centurylink.com as your target, you should be able to see where the slowdowns are occurring.
