If you want to try some really old-skool stuff, get hold of an emulator or two, for example one called VICE for Commodore machines (Windows version is called WinVICE, but versions are available for MacOS, Linux and many other platforms as well), and then go to archive.org and search for some old Commodore books or magazines.
