  For interesting but inexpensive alternatives to ikea try allmodern.com, zara home (cute coffee & side tables), h&m home for pillows etc., lamps plus (they sell furniture apparently), target, houzz. Big Flea markets also are a good deals on funky chairs. Department stores like macy's often have sales on their sofas/furniture/linens, decoration so worth looking there too.
